Keeping your brain healthy and active requires special care. Unfortunately, some of our habits can unknowingly harm the brain. Let’s take a look at 11 habits that are harmful to the brain.

Working while sick

Overwork sometimes leads to stress and illness. If you continue to work during sickness, brain energy decreases. During any sickness, our body fights infection. Mental or physical exertion only increases the burden on it. Therefore, during any illness or injury, rest the brain and body.

Eating an excess of Sugar

Consuming too much sugar impairs the brain and body’s ability to absorb protein and nutrients. It can lead to brain disorders like memory loss, hyperactivity and depression. Slowly and carefully reduce the amount of sugar in your daily diet for optimal health.

Skipping meals

A healthy brain needs regular intervals of nutrient support to function properly. Due to busy lifestyle sometimes one cannot have food. Therefore, the brain has to be denied of glucose and nutrients. Repeated exposure to this condition can cause brain cells to deteriorate. Avoid skipping meals for better brain health.

Constantly engaging in social media

Moderate amounts of entertainment, such as listening to music, watching a program on TV, or chatting with friends online, are good for a healthy body and mind. But constantly engaging in social media can lead to depression, anxiety, loneliness, thoughts of self-harm. Be more aware of how you spend your free time and the quality and quantity of entertainment.

Lack of restful sleep

Not getting sufficient sleep affects memory and decision making. Cerebrospinal fluid, which flows through the brain while you sleep, helps remove excess protein. Make sure you get enough sleep.

To complain

Wasting valuable time complaining is not good for anyone. Research has also proven that complaining for 30 minutes a day causes physical damage to a person’s brain. Complaining is associated with negative energy. It is not suitable for our health and well-being.

Inactivity

When a person is lethargic and does not get enough physical activity, brain power decreases and balance and other skills decrease. Take a walk every morning to get some physical activity.

Spending a lot of time in the dark

Less sunlight can reduce your body’s production of serotonin. This brain chemical helps determine mood. Spending too much time in dark or gloomy places can change the structure of the brain and affect one’s memory and ability to learn. Avoid staying in dimly lit closed rooms for long periods of time during the day.

Stimulate the brain to think

The people who think too much or insufficient have been displayed to lose brain power. The brain needs some thought exercise every day. Activities such as intellectual challenges, learning new skills, problem solving, reading and writing help the brain function better.

Holding on to anger and bad memories

Adrenaline and different neurochemicals in the brain are activated with anger and painful or traumatic memories. Investigate how you react to different situations and what causes negative consequences. Try to gently and appropriately change the memories in your mind.

To maintain good brain health throughout life, don’t waste time. It’s not too late to consciously develop good habits.

Smoking

Smoking is another awful thing to do. It is quite possibly of the most exceedingly awful thing you do for your general wellbeing, and that includes your brain health as well. People who smoke are also twice as likely to develop dementia
